caelestis accendocaelestis accendo by Chama
planes sail through the sky, gaudy stars strung up
on radio waves
blaze, antares, while the sun is high
and the sky is blind --
and childhood becomes a lie; its constellations have all waned
the seeds of our wishes sired gardens in the voids
between those distant sparks,
and in our youth eden spanned the light years.
our hopes were so many.
but as we grew in swollen bellies,
already their carcasses lie
in the pith
of the universe,
some ungodly feast for those soft white god-maggots
whose teeth and tongues pronounced fate,
stomachs full with prophecy.
grey shells enveloped in barren wombs,
we drift alone in space and spangle like the noontime sun
until, pale limbs hanging from the sky,
we are slowly sucked into the black holes
of our hearts.
